Dr. Myrtle Lee Smith received her MD degree at the University of Tenn. in 1926,
and studied in Philadelphia; served as a medical missionary in Belgian Congo around
1930 for the Disciple of Christ Church., in which church she was an ordained minister.
She practiced medicine in Livingston and served as head of the Tri-County Health Department.
She was killed in a car accident near Carthage.
