William McGinnis Left England October 1723 for Virginia ,~ Bonded passenger from ?Ulster Co., Ireland? More likely from London on the Ship Foward , the Captain was Daniel Russell. In Halifax County, VA William lived on Difficult Creek.

This from page 174. Coldham's, Peter Wilson, English Convicts in Colonial America Vol I, Middlesex: 1617-1775, Polyanthos, New Orleans, 1974. Explanation" The County of MiddIesex which enclose the City of London. Contractors were hired to transport convicts. S is for Sessions of Goal Delivery. "In general the more serious cases (by contemporary standards) were sent for trial at this Sessions which met eight times a year, and the vast majoriy of the sentences of transportation were imposed by this court which sat at the Old Bailey. Only Sessions could impose the death sentence, the records of those reprieved for transportation will all be found uner this heading." T is when ship left. Forward was the ship. It appears it transported convicts at least once each year.

Feb. Ct. 1761 Robert WOODING, Gent. is appointed guardian of James, Alexander, Andrew & Molly, orphans of William McGINNESS, dec'd. William McGINNESS, orphan of Wm. McGINNESS, dec'd, made choice of his guardian as Henry WADE.

1761-19 Feb-Robert Wooding, Gent granted certificate to obtain letters of Administration on estate of William McGinnes, decd. Robert Wooding, Gent appointed guardian of James, Alexander, Andrew, and Molly orphans of William McGinness, decd. Robert Wooding with John Coleman and Benjamin Dickson, securities, entered into bond. P 189 HALIFAX Co, VA Court Orders 1759-1762 Plea Book 3, p 86, TLC, Miami Beach, FL, 1998. Among items listed: 1 negro fellow Seppin, ditto Tom, cattle, horses, plantation tools, 1 mans saddle, 1 womans ditto, household goods, horse bells, a parcel of books, his wearing clothes, to Mrs. McGinnis ditto. By 1761 William is deceased;the inventory of this estate is in Halifax Co.,Va. His wife Elizabeth apparently died about the same time. The accounts mention making a coffin for Elizabeth McGinnis.

1768 -18 Mar-Robert Wooding is ordered to pay to sd William Green Alexander mcGinnis' proportion of his father William McGinnis' estate. (Halifax Co., VA Deed Bk 7 p113).

1768-18 Mar-William Green of Amelia Co & Jeremiah Keen of Halifax are bound to Robert Wooding Admin of estate of William McGinnis decd. Court ordered Wooding to pay to Green & McGinnis his proportion of his father's William
McGinnis's Estate. If Green will pay back to Wooding from time a proportionable part of Said Alexander's estate that will be sufficient to pay any debt that may hereafter come against estate of William McGinnis decd. Recorded Mar 17, 1768. Halifax Deed BK 7 p 113.

1768-1 Nov-Daniel Hudson of Charlotte Co to Abraham Womack of Halifax 480A bounded by Beavers CR, John Williams, William McGinniss, William Hunt, Signed Daniel (X) Hudson wit Walter Robertson, Thomas Boaz, Samuel Calland. In 1769 Alexander McGinnis and Wm. Green were administrators of the William McGinnis estate,which was to have the balance divided among the 8 orphans. Named were James,Alexander,Andrew,William and Molly.

1769- Sept Court-p 39(238) William McGinnis Accounts Current. Ordered that William Thompson, Armistead Wotlington & John Williams do settle an Accounts Current of the estate of William McGinnis, decd & that Robert Wooding, Gent. Admr do deliver up to William Green & Alexander McGinnis part of the sd estate. Thos. Tunstall, D. Clk. 26 Dec 1767. Balance divided between eight orphans giving each child 24.17.8.
